Hi, I'm Sarah Mitchell

Instant Pot Enthusiast · Home Cook · Recipe Developer

Helping families cook delicious Instant Pot meals since 2018

My Story

Welcome to InstantSavorly — your trusted source for Instant Pot and pressure cooker recipes that actually work. I'm Sarah, a self-taught home cook, food photographer, and recipe developer based in Portland, Oregon. What started as a personal journal of my Instant Pot experiments has grown into a community of over 100,000 home cooks who rely on these recipes to get delicious, reliable meals on the table every week.

My Instant Pot journey started like many of yours probably did — staring at this intimidating appliance on my counter, not quite sure what to do with it. Six years and over 500 recipes later, I can confidently say it's the single most useful kitchen tool I own. My mission is simple: help you feel the same way.

Why Instant Pot?

The Instant Pot changed the way I cook for my family. Dishes that used to take three hours on the stovetop — braised beef, hearty soups, creamy risottos — are now ready in 30 to 45 minutes, with almost no hands-on time. For busy weeknights, that's a game-changer.

But more than just speed, the Instant Pot delivers depth of flavor. Pressure cooking infuses ingredients in a way that slow methods just can't replicate. Once you taste Instant Pot beef stew or fall-apart whole chicken, you'll understand why so many families have made it a staple.

How I Develop and Test Recipes

Every single recipe on InstantSavorly is developed in my own home kitchen, using a standard 6-quart Instant Pot Duo — the same model most of you have. Each recipe is tested a minimum of three times before it's published to ensure:

  • Reliable results — the recipe works consistently, not just once
  • Accessible ingredients — everything is available at a regular grocery store, no specialty shopping required
  • Honest timing — I list realistic prep and cook times, including pressure build-up time that other sites often omit
  • Accurate nutrition — estimated nutrition facts are calculated per serving for every recipe
  • Clear instructions — written so that both beginners and experienced cooks can follow them with confidence

I photograph every dish in natural light to show you exactly what the finished recipe looks like — no professional food styling tricks, no unrealistic presentations. What you see on screen is what you can expect on your plate.

Credentials & Experience

I'm a passionate home cook, not a professionally trained chef — and I believe that's actually a strength. I develop recipes with the same equipment, time constraints, and real-life challenges that you face every day. My relevant experience includes:

  • Food Safety Certification (ServSafe) — completed and up to date
  • Recipes featured in Food & Wine, Bon Appétit, and Taste of Home
  • Guest on The Kitchen Table Podcast (2024 and 2025 episodes)
  • Over 500 original Instant Pot and pressure cooker recipes developed and tested
  • 6+ years of daily Instant Pot cooking experience across all models and sizes
